+Biosolis Sun Milk for Face & Body SPF 15 (NEW!)
SPF 15 sun milk for darker skin types and daily use
Sun milk with a factor SPF 15 is suitable for darker skin types, for those who are already tanned, or for daily use as a day cream during the colder months of the year. Because even in autumn and winter that skin is exposed to sunlight and the skin needs sufficient protection.
What is SPF 15 or factor 15?
SPF stands for ‘Sun Protection Factor’ and indicates the average time period after which the skin will burn, without the protection of sunscreen or sun spray.
The number behind SPF was determined through specific tests. A group of people were exposed to a light spectrum that is the equivalent of midday sunshine in a controlled environment (inside). One part of this group used a sunscreen, the other part did not. The amount of ‘light exposure’ that caused red skin in the protected group was subsequently divided by the amount of light that caused redness in the non-protected group. The result was a number which indicates UVB light and this number can be anywhere between 1 and 50, or even higher.
An SPF factor of 15, for example, will ensure that your skin, the skin that would turn red after about 10 minutes without any sun protection, only starts turning red after 150 minutes with sun protection. So, with an SPF 15 you can stay in the sun up to 15 times longer.
Scientific research has shown that from SPF 15 or factor 15 the skin is protected against the damage that sunrays can create.
Organic (biological) sun cream with natural mineral filters against UVA and UVB rays
The SPF 15 Sun Milk Face & Body from Biosolis protects your skin in a natural way. No chemical filters, but mineral filters that respect the coral reefs, the marine ecosystem and our health.
In this sun cream 2 mineral filters are used: zinc oxide and titanium oxide. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are good for sensitive skin types. They lay on the surface of the skin and are not deeply absorbed, reducing the chances of an allergic reaction. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are natural filters that reflect sunlight. A chemical filter works a bit differently: chemical filters penetrate the skin and then neutralise the sunrays there with a chemical reaction.
This sun cream protects the skin against UVB and UVA rays
- UVA rays penetrate through to the deepest skin layers and therefore may cause wrinkles, darker spots and skin cancer. UVA rays can pass through glass (such as car windows).
- UVB rays burn the upper layer of the skin. They are often the cause of sunburn when exposed to sunlight unprotected. UVB rays do not pass through glass.
- It is important to use a sun cream or sun spray that offers protections against both UVA and UVB rays, predominantly UVA rays, because 95% of sunlight is UVA rays.
